LAKE COUNTY, Ind. — More than 40,000 people attended Senator Barack Obama’s rally in Lake County Friday night. He's making one last push to sway undecided voters in this close presidential race.

Waiting during the day for the night-time rally, "Mark the Unemployed" and "Joe the Car Salesman" rolled out the welcome mat for Obama.

Car load by car load, Obama's appearance attracted the attention of some and inspired others.

"It’s interesting. We've been talking about it since fifth grade and then to actually see what was happening," said Joy Cook.

"It does help our younger people realize that the possibilities are out there for them to excel as well as Barack has done," said Shirley Sheppard.

Obama took the stage after sunset. He told the crowd, the work is far from over.

"Don't believe for a second this election is over," Obama said.

"He might measure the drapes in Indiana, but don't measure the carpet just yet, because I don't think he's got it," said John Curley, Lake County GOP chairman.

Just days remaining until the election, polls suggest the race is a virtual dead heat. Curley believes Indiana’s track record of supporting Republican presidential candidates may slow Obama’s momentum.

"Everyone is talking on a national level. No one is talking on an Indiana level," Curley said. "My take is Indiana is too close to call. McCain will take Indiana."

But judging by the Lake County crowd, Obama supporters would disagree.

"After 21 months from the rocky coast of Maine to the sunshine of California we are four days from change in the United States of America," Obama said.

With Hoosiers concerned about the economy, jobs and education, whoever Lake County and Hoosiers support, the final push of campaigning is really just the beginning.

The push will continue with both parties scheduled to make appearances in Evansville Saturday and Sunday. McCain will also make an appearance in Indianapolis Monday.
