STEVENSVILLE — They went marching on to victory, and when they came back from Detroit, Stevensville welcomed them with a parade.

That was the homecoming Saturday night for Stevensville Lakeshore's Lancer marching band, which won the Michigan Competing Band Association state championship for Flight III schools in Detroit.

Proud parents, family and friends welcomed them back as the Lincoln Twp. police and fire services escorted the band into town.

Stevensville Lakeshore took the 2008 top honors at Ford Field, where other area schools ranked in the Top 10 in Flight I competition.

Southwest Michigan resident Terry Anserello told SBT24/7 News that Watervliet, Edwardsburg and Hartford all placed in the Top 10.

According to results reported by the Detroit Free Press, those bands placed 5th, 8th and 10th, respectively.
