SOUTH BEND — Police have confirmed a methamphetamine lab caused a house fire in the 500 block of East Woodside Avenue on Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the residence just after 1:30 a.m. Crews had the fire under control in 10 minutes, and there were no injuries.

While on the scene, firefighters and police officers saw evidence of a possible meth lab.

During a search of the residence and a vehicle, South Bend police officers seized what they believed to be marijuana and meth, in addition to items related to the manufacture of meth.

Officers arrested 35-year-old Michelle Stancati for felony manufacturing methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of precursors, and felony maintaining a common nuisance.

Maria Stancati, 35, was arrested for felony maintaining a common nuisance.
