ELKHART — Two residents of a house in the 25500 block of County Road 4 remain in custody at the Elkhart County Jail after their arrest early Friday when police allegedly found illegal drugs and related supplies at the house.

A 25-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were taken into custody by Elkhart County police on suspicion of possession of methamphetamines, narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

The man also is accused of possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance, police said. Formal charges may be filed Saturday.

A 4-year-old boy police found sleeping in the home was turned over to Child Protective Services, according to Trevor Wendzonka, spokesman for the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

Police went to the home about 12:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a tip about illegal drug activity, he said.

When the occupants refused to permit a search of the house, police obtained a search warrant, which was served about 3:20 a.m., according to a report by Elkhart County Cpl. Casey Lehman.

Among the items police found were suspected marijuana cigarettes, Sudafed, generic forms of Darvacet and Adderall, and other drug supplies.

A 21-year-old Bristol woman at the house was released after being cited on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and visiting a common nuisance.
