Infant found dead in Elkhart home

ELKHART — Police are investigating the death of a 2-month-old infant, who was found unresponsive Tuesday morning in a home in the 2800 block of East Jackson Boulevard.

Police and medics responded to the address about 7:30 a.m.

Resuscitation attempts were made with no success and the infant was pronounced dead at the residence, police said.

Elkhart police contacted the homicide unit to conduct a death investigation. The homicide unit is required to compete death investigations for all people under the age of 18.

An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.

The names of the family are not being released.
