ELKHART — James Inbody's wife Amy thinks things happen for a reason. Now the couple has $100,000 as proof of her theory.

The Inbodys were in Indianapolis this week with their 18-month-old son James Jr., who was receiving treatment at Riley Hospital for Children.

James Inbody bought a “Hoosier Millions” scratch-off ticket on Tuesday. "I waited to scratch it off while my son was in surgery” on Wednesday morning, he said, in a press release from the Hoosier Lottery.

Inbody's Hoosier Millions Scratch-off ticket revealed a $100,000 win. The Elkhart residents claimed the $100,000 at Lottery Headquarters Wednesday afternoon.

"It is so ironic because we were already in Indianapolis,” said Inbody. Because their win was greater than $50,000, they had to claim the prize at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis.

"I was speechless," said Amy Inbody. "Things definitely happen for a reason."

The Inbodys plan to pay off a truck and put the majority of the win back for their children's college funds.

Inbody bought his winning ticket from the Elkhart Speedway station at 57721 Indiana 19 South.
