Jayco laying off 244 workers at Topeka plant

TOPEKA — Hundreds of new layoffs are coming to Elkhart County. This time the company that is getting hit is Jayco's Starcraft Plant in Topeka.

Earlier this year the company planned to close its plant there and move all operations to Middlebury.

Now they say they'll have to lay off 244 workers from the Topeka plant in the process.

Company officials tell us those layoffs will come in the next 60 days and the plant will shut down in January.

Jayco plans to make new, lightweight trailers at the Middlebury location.
