The National Weather Service has issued a lake-effect snow watch for much of Michiana beginning Thursday morning and lasting through Friday evening.

The watch area includes LaPorte, St. Joseph and Elkhart counties in Indiana, and Berrien and Cass counties in Michigan.

After a cold front sweeps through the area late tonight, cold winds across the warmer waters of Lake Michigan are expected to cause widespread snow showers across much of the area, especially north and west of a line from Michigan City to Nappanee to Marcellus.

Total accumulations in that area could reach six to 12 inches by Friday evening, although snow totals will likely vary widely due to the localized nature of lake-effect snow.

I hope all the idiots who think they can still drive fast to work and tailgate the ones who are actually driving slower, I hope you ALL hit a patch of ice, spin out, and land in the ditch. Then, you'll be late for work, your suit will be ruined, and HOPEFULLY you'll be docked a days pay. And as for you snowmobilers, ride on your OWN property. If you have no place to ride, don't buy a sled! Private property is NOT your own private playground in the winter. Or can I come 4-wheelin' in ur yard

Believe me in a few short years I will be spending my winters in sunny Florida. Cold, snow, and ice have never been high on my list as favorite things. But until then I will deal with it...but I don't have to like it.

Last week and again this time, read carefully, it says local areas will receive 6" to 12"! Areas to the north of South Bend, did receive this, in fact Marcellus received 15 inches!!! Lake Effect comes in waves and the waves keep coming over the same area for long periods of time, thus some areas do get what's predicted and other areas don't!

I go hunting because holding a gun makes me feel neat. Having a gun makes me the neat guy in the room. People are in awe of me because I do neat things, like use a gun. They think I'm manly and head of the house hold.

To April: As long as you stay in the driving lane and not in the passing lane, you should be fine. It is the "left-laners, no brainers" that hold the traffic up! (assuming you come up 31)

Oh boy, am I ready for the comments this storm will generate! About the plows (or lack of), the salt(or lack of), the drivers, blah, blah. And, of course, the ones complaining that they don't have to slow down and are mad at those who do! Last Tuesday's comments were great!
