SOUTH BEND — Police have released surveillance photos they say show the suspect in the Tuesday robbery of Mutual Bank at 724 E. Ireland Road.

During the robbery, police say, a man entered the bank about 2:30 p.m. and implied he had a gun, although no weapon was shown. He was given an unknown amount of money and then left the bank, police said Tuesday.

The robber is described as a white male of medium build between the age of 25 and 30 with a thin beard and mustache. Standing 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, he was wearing blue jeans, a cap, tan sweater with dark horizontal stripes and a black leather-type jacket, according to police.

A photo also was released of the suspected getaway vehicle, a blue Toyota Camry with Indiana license plates. Police said Tuesday that the vehicle was believed to have gone south on High Street into the Erskine Plaza after fleeing the scene.
