SOUTH BEND — A former Elkhart Central High School teacher accused of having sex with a student was arraigned Wednesday in St. Joseph County Superior Court.

Dennis M. Jay, 37, of Mishawaka, faces three counts of Class D felony child seduction.

The student, a 17-year-old female, admitted to having sexual intercourse with Jay three or four times at his Indian Lakes Apartments home, investigators allege in a probable cause affidavit.

Jay was free on $1,000 cash bond and said in court Wednesday he has hired a private lawyer to represent him in the case.

His next court appearance is Dec. 3 in front of Judge Jerome Frese.
