SOUTH BEND — A man with a gun attempted to rob a Popeyes restaurant on the city’s west side Wednesday evening, police said.

The attempted robbery occurred about 7:50 p.m. at the Popeyes at 2605 Lincoln Way West, near North Olive Street.

According to South Bend police, a man carrying a silver pistol walked into the restaurant and demanded money.

Something spooked the robber, police said, and he turned and ran out the door without any money.

Four employees were inside the restaurant at the time of the incident.

While this robbery attempt was unsuccessful, a hold-up at a fabric store earlier today was the fourth robbery to a business in two days in South Bend — and police expect more this time of year.
