The National Weather Service has issued a lake-effect snow warning for St. Joseph, LaPorte and Berrien counties from 10 a.m. Thursday to 1 p.m. Friday.

According to the NWS, snow showers are expected to develop Thursday morning and become heavier in the evening. A strong band of snow is expected to develop in Berrien, St. Joseph and eastern LaPorte counties, where totals could exceed eight inches.

In addition to the snowfall, strong northwest winds could cause blowing and drifting of the snow in some areas.

Lesser accumulations are expected in Starke, Marshall, Elkhart, and Kosciusko counties, where a lake-effect snow advisory for up to five inches of snow is in effect.

A wall around Lake Michigan? How can you make a comparison between L.M. & Mexico? This snow is a part of nature. The wall around Mexico is to prevent illegals from entering the U.S. and taking jobs that our U.S citizens desparately need now more than ever. We don't need more illegals bringing drugs, crime and medical bills to U.S. for our Citizens to pay for. Let them follow our immigration laws. And as for those that don't enjoy the beauty that this snow offers, well...move to Mexico.

Hey Anon, I just wish they could speed up the fence on the border, amigo! Six months from now you gonna see a lot of Americans after the jobs they didn't want before........

How about mandating absolutely no vehicles on the road till the roads have been cleared. Close everything, then there will be no accidents, kids won't be home alone, and the plowers can do their jobs for our safety.

I agree with Amy, let it snow... let it snow ... make it nice and deep. What wonders it does when snow covers roadside trash with some fresh white. Make it like 77-78 this winter.

This advisories for lake effect on the are so scary for all drivers. We all want to be on time for work and if snow lake effect comes along all the way to LaPort will be full of snow and we will not be able to get through. Can someone figure out how to cut this lake effect thing for good. So nobody will have to go through hell and back seeing all that snow blowing all over the place and you cant see the road or anything else that moves in there. No wonder drivers have all kinds of accidents on t
