SOUTH BEND — Because of heavy snowfall Friday, fans planning to attend Saturday’s Notre Dame-Syracuse football game are encouraged to arrive early and/or use off-campus parking.

By Friday morning, nearly 12 inches of snow were on the ground in White Field, the area on the north edge of the University of Notre Dame campus where most general parking occurs on football Saturdays, the university announced.

Reserved parking lots on campus have been plowed and will not be affected. However, fans with vehicle parking hangtags should arrive as early as possible.

Fans also can park their vehicles off-campus and ride a Transpo shuttle bus to the game.

Off-campus parking locations that offer shuttle service include: Town and Country Shopping Center, on McKinley Avenue in Mishawaka; the College Football Hall of Fame, Transpo South Street Station, and at Washington and Main streets (across from Holiday Inn), in downtown South Bend; Saint Mary’s College, Holy Cross College and St. Joseph’s High School; and many local hotels.

Shuttles begin approximately three hours before kickoff and provide prompt returns following the game.

For more information on area parking and shuttle service, see: http://sbtranspo.com/express/stadium.htm or call Transpo at (574) 233-2131.
