ELKHART — The Elkhart County Interdiction & Covert Enforcement Unit is seeking the public’s help in finding a man suspected of being involved in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Police believe Thomas R. Forbes, 27, of the 600 block of Jordan Street, had been operating a large-scale meth operation.

While searching his home Wednesday night, officers found a hidden room in the basement that contained a suspected meth lab, authorities say.

They also found eight separate baggies containing a white powder substance that tested positive for meth, police say. Each bag contained about one gram of suspected meth, which has an estimated street value of $800.

A further search of the property revealed two large coolers in the backyard, police say. These coolers contained 10 "one pot cook" meth labs that were active.

This meth lab is one of the largest seized in Elkhart County and had the capacity to manufacture a considerable amount of the drug, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office.

ICE is trying to find Forbes, and there is currently an active "no bond probation violation" warrant for his arrest.

Two juveniles from the home were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for evaluation and then placed in protective custody by Child Protective Services.

The information on Forbes has been placed on the prosecutor’s Most Wanted List. Anyone with information on the location of Forbes should call 911.

Forbes is a white male, 5-feet-10 and about 135 pounds.

The Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Lab Team also responded.
