ELKHART — The Elkhart County Interdiction & Covert Enforcement Unit is seeking the public’s help in finding a man suspected of being involved in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Police believe Thomas R. Forbes, 27, of the 600 block of Jordan Street, had been operating a large-scale meth operation.

While searching his home Wednesday night, officers found a hidden room in the basement that contained a suspected meth lab, authorities say.

They also found eight separate baggies containing a white powder substance that tested positive for meth, police say. Each bag contained about one gram of suspected meth, which has an estimated street value of $800.

A further search of the property revealed two large coolers in the backyard, police say. These coolers contained 10 "one pot cook" meth labs that were active.

This meth lab is one of the largest seized in Elkhart County and had the capacity to manufacture a considerable amount of the drug, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office.

ICE is trying to find Forbes, and there is currently an active "no bond probation violation" warrant for his arrest.

Two juveniles from the home were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for evaluation and then placed in protective custody by Child Protective Services.

The information on Forbes has been placed on the prosecutor’s Most Wanted List. Anyone with information on the location of Forbes should call 911.

Forbes is a white male, 5-feet-10 and about 135 pounds.

The Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Lab Team also responded.

Ah ha! Another "booking" photo. What was he previously arrested for? If they would just sentence the "bad guys" and not give them a slap on the wrist then they would not be bad on the streets!

the police are doing and excellent job of cathing these drug makers but its up to us the public to keep an eye out and notify them if we see something suspicious, lets all pitch in and help them.

Does anyone know the reason of this bumper crop of meth labs around the area? It used to be that pot growers were doing their part in their attics and bathrooms but now meth has become the fastest organized chemical opertation. Even meth labs are found in winter coats cooking inside someones belly and warming up their chest and necks. What is the use of having so many cops around and they are not checking all of them? Check the cars, coats, attics, basements and specially the rentals that where

Meth lab operator please give it up. It is time to repent. How many sins do you have? Have you count them¿ So far thirty ¿¿¿ No one knows but we know that houses that you get from unsuspecting owners of your intention of making a lab out of them.. will be contaminated and the next renter have to deal with it. If their childre get hold of your chemicals they might as well get contaminated and then suffer untold pain at the mercy of nurses and doctors who will try to save this poor little angel wh

Another example - let drug users do what they want and help them. Enforcing garbage legislation = morally deciding someone's fate. It will never work but it pays the po-po salaries so they want it to continue. Unfortunately you have a powerful union dictating our behavior that is counter to freedom and natural human behavior. There is no person on planet earth that has the right to tell you what is right or wrong unless you violate the physical rights of someone else. I like cops - they try.

...Dillweed? Just hush, okay? Just shhhhh. And to Shoppy, yes, we know you don't like the police. We get it. You tell us at every available opportunity. We get it already. As far as the story, when they do catch him and they WILL, I bet he goes away for a very long time. That sounds like one heck of a big deal. What concerns me is the kids they found in the house. How old are they? It seems there are always children involved. That's what gets to me the most...

Waw, he is so skinny. Did he eat anything at all? Or the meth are making him look like living skeleton. Porr guy. I really feel sorry for him. He should be at ND getting a great educaction in Geology or Nursing. Anything that will help him get out of the business of doing meth. Was his parents around? How come they did not take to sunday school and teach them the Word of God so he will be a missionary somether in the third world country and doing something for himself. Christina colleges offer g
