LAPORTE — The reward for information on who shot and killed Ben the Belgian draft horse has grown.

Ben, who was often used to pull wagon rides around the area, was found dead the morning of Nov. 16 at 3801 S. 650 West from an apparent gunshot wound between the eyes.

Brian Satoski was going out to feed the family’s five horses when he discovered the horse in the grass about 20 feet from the road.

The Humane Society of the United States announced Tuesday it is offering $2,500 to anyone with information that leads to a conviction in the case.

Last week, the Satoski family said they were offering $1,000 reward, and another $700 had been added by other donations to the cause.

An account is set up at Wells Fargo Bank at 601 Jackson St. in LaPorte for anyone who wants to donate more to the reward.
