MISHAWAKA — Police say a truck driver who was struck in a hit-and-run accident early Thursday on the Indiana Toll Road has died.

Police say Andrji Gamersky, 24, of Hamtramck, Mich., was struck while standing next to his semi-truck on the Toll Road about 3:13 a.m. near the 83-mile marker in Mishawaka.

Gamersky was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with fractures, lacerations and internal injuries. He died several hours later.

An Indiana State Police report states Gamersky was standing at the fog line, next to his truck when another vehicle struck him and left the scene. Police say another driver stopped and stayed with Gamersky, who came to rest in the driving lane after the impact, until help arrived.

Police say they are still looking for the driver and the vehicle, possibly another semi-truck, that struck Gamersky.
