Car strikes Palais Royale building in downtown South Bend

A car struck a historic building in downtown South Bend late Tuesday
night, South Bend police dispatch has confirmed.

A call came in at 11:55 p.m. saying that a car had struck the Palais Royale, at 105 W. Colfax Ave. Police at the scene described the driver as semi-conscious, dispatch confirmed.

No other information is available.

The Palais Royale opened in 1922 as a big band dance hall and featured opulent décor inspired by the great cities of Europe, according to its Web site. The building was restored in 2002, and now is an event facility.
