MISHAWAKA — Fire crews battled a house fire Thursday night in the 1000 block of Eighth Street.

When firefighters arrived, smoke was coming from the home. One fire hydrant was frozen, but crews were able to connect to a nearby one.

They had the fire out in about 15 minutes. Authorities say no one was home at the time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
