South Shore Railroad trains between South Bend and Chicago had many delays and cancellations because of the ice storm Friday morning. As of 3:30 p.m. transit police are reporting that things are almost back to normal.

South Shore westbound trains 108 and 110, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 7:35 a.m. and 7:47 a.m. respectively, were canceled.

All other South Shore trains were running up to 20 minutes late because severe highway icing prevented crews from reporting to their scheduled assignments on time, the railroad announced Friday.

The longest delay is now 15 minutes.

Passengers who do head out to take the train are still being urged to be extremely cautious when driving to the train station, in parking lots, and while walking on sidewalks and platforms.
