LAPORTE — Investigators remain tight-lipped about the case, but new information is surfacing about the shooting of a LaPorte County official.

Judge-elect Jennifer Evans was shot last week in her home. 911 tapes released Friday reveal her husband calling for help.

He told dispatchers his wife suffered an accidental, gunshot wound to the head and that she needed an ambulance immediately. He offered no other details about the shooting, but did confirm the gun was theirs.

He told the operator the couple had a babysitter in the home and had put the weapons away. They were taking them back out when the gun fired.

Evans is expected to make a full recovery. The case has been turned over to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office.
