Part of West Jefferson Boulevard on the city's west side was closed to traffic Tuesday morning because of a tree and wires down.

South Bend Police were notified about 12:20 a.m. when a semi-truck driver reported the wires down across the cab of his rig, in the 1400 block between Cherry and Chestnut streets.

He was not injured, but crews were not available until morning to removed the tree debris.

There was no immediate word on when the road would reopen, or what caused the lines to come down.
