The family of a 43-year-old Michigan man says he's been missing since Friday, and they still don't have any information about why.

The Sheriff's Department in St. Joseph County, Mich., confirmed early Monday that they're actively looking for Jeff Ergeron, who left the Sturgis-Burr Oak area Friday afternoon to drive to Elkhart.

But he never arrived, and Ergeron's sister, Sherry Webster, of Elkhart, says the disappearance is out of character for Ergeron.

Ergeron is described as being about 6 feet 3 inches tall, and weighing about 170 pounds. He has short brown hair and green eyes, and was likely wearing a black jacket over denim jeans when he left home.

Police have checked along the Toll Road, Webster said, but found nothing. However, Ergeron may have driven the 1998 Chrysler Town & Country van, described as a purple-gray color, along U.S. 12 instead.

Webster said he was known to take either route when visiting family in Elkhart.

Police have checked around and neither an adult son in Mishawaka nor his friends have heard from him, she told SBT24/7 News.

The Sheriff's Department did not comment further on the case, other than to say officers continued to look for Ergeron. Anyone with information may call police at (269) 467-9045.
