GRANGER — In this economic crisis the travel industry has been hit hard as well. For many families squeezing in a vacation may not have been an option until now. Just about anywhere you travel this winter there are some deep discounts.

You can turn that dream of leaving the cruel cold behind into reality thanks to some big bargains.

"They have cash rebates that they’re offering, they are offering specials of ‘Buy 3 nights get 1 free’ at specific hotels across the country,” Kim Hickman, of Signal Travel Agency, told WSBT News.

Hickman, who's been in the travel business for years, says cruises and all-inclusive trips are great values because your meals are already paid for.

"Cruises actually have great plans for 3- and 4-night stays going to the Bahamas,” Hickman continued. “I found one that was a 5-night for $279 base per person."

If you are looking for cheap airfares head online. For example, Northwest Airlines is offering one-way trips from South Bend to New York starting at just $65. But the catch you have to book the flight by January 16.

Disney is offering “Buy 4 days and get 3 free” — it needs to be booked by January 17 and can be used through June.

Another way to save: Try to be flexible when booking your trip.

"Depending on what day of the week you are traveling, it can make a huge difference on the air, it can make a huge difference on the package,” Hickman added.

Travel agents say the top 3 deeply discounted places for travel right now are Mexico, Florida, and Hawaii.

When surfing the web for a place to surf experts say beware of those online hidden fees.

Good luck! Your next terrific trip could be just a click or call away.
