The 'B-word' — blizzard — is putting Michiana in 'watch mode' as area weather's taking a dangerous turn.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 10 p.m. Monday until 7 p.m. Tuesday for most of northern Indiana and all of southwest lower Michigan.

Heavy snow and strong winds will create extremely hazardous driving conditions late Monday and for much of the day Tuesday.

A Blizzard Watch is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.

Heavy snow and even stronger winds will result in widespread white-out conditions.

Brutally cold temperatures are also in the area's forecast.
