A lake-effect snow watch is in effect from 5 p.m. Wednesday to 1 p.m. Thursday for all of Southwest Lower Michigan and LaPorte, St. Joseph, Elkhart, Starke and Marshall counties in Indiana.

The blizzard watch and winter storm warning have been canceled.

Temperatures in the lower 30s Tuesday will plummet into the single digits by Tuesday night, and wind chills will drop well below zero.

A widespread system snow of 2" to 4" will affect the entire area during the day Wednesday. In its wake, a shot of frigid air will generate heavy lake-effect snow showers Wednesday night and Thursday.

Wednesday’s high is expected to be about 13, with wind chills as low as minus 15.

Wednesday night will bring continued snow showers and more blowing snow, with a low about minus 3 and wind chills around minus 20. Wednesday night could bring several more inches of snow.

Accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are likely in the watch area. Winds could reach 25 to 35 mph, with blowing snow and dangerous wind chills through Thursday.

More snow is expected Thursday, mainly in the morning. The high Thursday is expected to be about 8 degrees.

Friday is likely to be partly sunny and very cold, with a high near 7. A chance of snow and continued cold temperatures in the teens and 20s are expected for the weekend.
