WARSAW — Police arrested a 38-year-old North Webster woman Wednesday for having a mobile meth lab near a Warsaw middle school.

Undercover officers arrested Melissa Gene Christian after being tipped that she was in the 800-block of East Winona Avenue — near Lakeview Middle School — and under the influence of some type of drug.

Officers who encountered Christian say she was “tweaking,” or high on methamphetamine. They also found an active meth lab in the trunk of her car.

She was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing/manufacturing methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school. Her bond was set at $20,000.

The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab team dismantled and secured the lab.

Police say Christian’s car was stolen last week by Summer Jaynes, who was arrested for arson and for having a meth lab in the trunk of the same vehicle.

The same vehicle was also involved in a meth lab arrest on June 9, 2007, when an undercover Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officer was injured after inhaling fumes of the mobile meth lab. Christian was also arrested in that case and charged with felony manufacturing methamphetamine.
