UPDATE: Suspect in 2 Dowagiac stabbings is being held in Missouri

DOWAGIAC--A suspect in the stabbings of two people in Dowagiac is in custody in Missouri.

Police say a man and woman were found stabbed in a Dowagiac home late Saturday and remain hospitalized.

Dowagiac officers were sent to an address in the 300 block of Thickstun Street at 11:04 p.m. after the stabbing was reported, the Dowagiac Police said in a news release Sunday.

They found two victims, a 78-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, who were wounded. The two Dowagiac residents were taken to the hospital and then airlifted to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Both patients were in stable condition Sunday morning. Their names have not been released.

In another news release Sunday, Dowagiac Police said the suspect, a 41 year old Dowagiac man, and vehicle were located in Herculaneum, Mo., at about 2 p.m. Sunday after Dowagiac Police had entered the suspect’s vehicle and information into the National Crime Information Center. The suspect was taken into custody and is awaiting formal charges and extradition through the Dowagiac Police Department and the Cass County Prosecutors Office. The suspects name is being with held pending his charges and extradition from Missouri.
