Michigan State Police are investigating the discovery of a meth lab in Sodus.

The lab was discovered in the woods near Diller Road and its intersection with Michigan 139 about 11 p.m. Sunday night.

Police say they were inspecting a building near the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 100 when they saw suspicious tire tracks heading into the woods.

When they went to check, they noticed a strong chemical odor and found two large garbage bags full of hazardous materials at an active meth lab site.

The area was closed while the chemicals were removed, although Michigan 139 remained open during the incident, MSP said in a press release.

Authorities said they are working to determine where the chemicalsl came from, and ask anyone who comes in contact with possible meth components to call police immediately at (269) 465-3111.
