KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — A man who was pulled over Monday for an outstanding theft warrant found himself in much deeper trouble when an officer immediately noticed the mobile methamphetamine lab in his passenger seat.

North Webster Deputy Marshal Dave May was acting on an anonymous tip about the felony theft warrant when he stopped 40-year-old Samuel Gene McGuire of Leesburg near his Armstrong Road residence.

That was when May discovered the mobile lab in the front seat of Mcguire’s van. It was a type informally termed a “one potter” that cooks meth using one container. The gasses produced can lead to an explosion if the container isn’t “burped” every 15 to 20 minutes, say police.

Also discovered in the van were several bags of produced methamphetamine. Mcguire is being held on an $11,000 bond at the Kosciusko County Jail.
