SOUTH BEND -- Firefighters arrived late Sunday afternoon to find smoke coming from a home in what authorities are calling a house explosion in South Bend.

Inside they found the makings of a meth lab, which had exploded. It happened in the 1300 block of Eastbrook, on the city's northwest side, just off Riverside.

Most of the home's windows had been blown out. The large front picture window had almost reached the sidewalk.

No one was inside the home or at the scene when firefighters arrived. One person did arrive at Memorial Hospital with burns, and investigators are said to be there. The hazardous material team and Indiana State Police units have been called in. South Bend police are on the scene.
