UPDATE: Firefighters respond to barn fire in Warren Twp.

By WSBT News1

SOUTH BEND — St. Joseph County Fire officials report that the person who was last seen in the barn ablaze Sunday morning in Warren Township is accounted for.

Firefighters have been on the scene of a barn fire since shortly before 10 a.m. in the 52300 block of Primrose Road, in South Bend, north of the Indiana Toll Road.

Engines, tankers and rescue vehicles from several area departments, including Warren, Clay and Bertrand townships and New Carlisle are at the scene to battle the morning blaze.

Earlier dispatch reports suggested the caller's son was last seen inside the barn.

Dispatchers said the barn is located close to a residence and diesel tank, and that there are heavy chemicals on the property.

At about 10:30 a.m., officials said the fire had weakend the south side of the 2,400-square-foot barn.

Cars are apparently stopping on the Indiana Toll Road to watch firefighters at work.
