SOUTH BEND — South Bend Fire Department investigators are still working Thursday in the house on Kendall Street where a woman’s body was found Tuesday morning.

Assistant Chief Chico Rodriguez said investigators still haven’t determined a cause.

Police said Dawn Brooks was found dead in the burning home about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

He death has been ruled a homicide.

She died of smoke and soot inhalation and burns. But Deputy Coroner Charles Hurley said she also suffered head injuries and stab wounds.

Detectives from the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit want to talk to Julius Gerard Anderson, 23, of 719 W. Ewing St.

They have been told he was her boyfriend.
