Five fire departments battling Elkhart apartment fire

Several residents called 911 at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, telling dispatchers of fire at The Overlook apartments.

As of 11:15 p.m., firefighters from five departments — Baugo Township, Concord Township, Elkhart City, Jefferson Township and Wakarusa — are still battling the fire, according to an Elkhart County emergency services dispatch supervisor.

There are no reports of injuries to residents or firefighters, according to the supervisor.

The Overlook apartments, a 188-unit complex, was built in 2001. It's located at 58720 Vista Boulevard, and is accessed from State Road 19, south of County Road 20.
