Fallen tree closes Indiana 4 for hours

By SBT 24/7 News

An unusually large fallen tree blocked all lanes of Indiana 4 late Saturday, and the road remained closed as crew worked to clear the debris.

The downed tree was reported about midnight, according to St. Joseph County dispatch. Hours later, there was still no traffic passing through the area west of North Liberty and Potato Creek State Park.

Police directed traffic in the area as motorists detoured around the closed section. The road was reopened after the lanes were cleared.

High winds across the region Saturday may have contributed to the tree damage. It was one of several reports of downed trees and scattered power outages.
