Goshen woman’s van encounters deer, embankment

By WSBT 24/7 News

A Goshen woman was injured early Thursday after the van she was driving went off the side of State Road 15, south of County Road 50 near New Paris.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is reporting Sandra Clark, 46, was trapped in her van at 3:18 a.m. after it traveled down an embankment and struck several trees. Clark told police a deer was in the road, causing her to swerve.

Police said she was wearing a seat belt and the van’s airbag deployed. Clark was taken to Goshen General Hospital for treatment of possible broken limbs and abrasions, according to the police report. As of 7 a.m., there was no information on her condition from hospital officials.

Clark was cited for driving with a suspended license.
