MISHAWAKA — A 6-year-old girl remains hospitalized in critical condition after she and her 4-year-old sister were struck by a car last week in Mishawaka.

A family member told The Tribune that Shianna Aston has been in critical condition and unresponsive at a South Bend hospital since the May 7 accident.

Shianna’s sister, 4-year-old Shayla Aston, died on May 8 because of injuries from the accident.

Both girls were crossing 11th Street, near its intersection with Dodge Street, when they were struck by a car driven by 56-year-old Leroy Hoover of Mishawaka.
