SOUTH BEND — The drive-through window at a west-side restaurant was heavily damaged Monday after a motorist ran into it, police said.

The accident occurred about 5:30 p.m. at the King Gyros at 3417 Lincoln Way W., near the airport.

According to South Bend police, the motorist, a teenager, simply pulled too close to the window, which juts out slightly from the building’s west side and is protected by a curb.

Multiple windows were shattered and the portion of the building impacted was knocked off kilter.
