WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday arrested two teens who allegedly used counterfeit money to buy marijuana.

The two men, 18-year-old Donald Greenley and 18-year-old Devin Kneller, were arrested on preliminary charges of felony counterfeiting, according to the sheriff’s office. Greenley is a resident of Syracuse and Kneller is a resident of North Webster.

Police began investigating in late March when someone presented them with a suspected counterfeit $20 bill. It later was determined that the $20 bill had been paid to another individual for the purchase of marijuana, according to Sgt. Joe Mooney, a Kosciusko County sheriff’s deputy.

Mooney contacted the U.S. Secret Service, which confirmed the money to be counterfeit, police said. Information later was uncovered that led police to the two teens.

It appears the fake bills were produced at the home of one of the teen’s on a home computer and printer, police said.
