SOUTH BEND - An 18-year-old Plymouth man told South Bend police he was carjacked about 8 p.m. Sunday.

The teen told officers he was driving near the intersection of Vassar and Sherman avenues and stopped at a stop sign, when two young men approached his vehicle. One man displayed a gun and ordered him out of the car, a 2000 red Pontiac Grand Am, the driver told police.

The young man said he then walked to a friend’s house on Huey Street. He called police from that address about an hour after the carjacking, according to a police report.

Officers drove the young man around for a while, and he identified the intersection where the car was taken, but the vehicle had not been recovered by Monday night, according to police. The Plymouth man told officers that the two young men also took $600 to $700 he had in the car at the time it was stolen, according to a police report.
