In just the first two days after its website went active, JetAmerica's $9 ticket sales exceeded 12,000 and crashed the airline's Web servers.

The new carrier is forecasting at least 20,000 reservations by next week.

A spokesperson for the airline says NBC Tonight Show host Jay Leno made a joke about the $9 dollar tickets, making sales jump during the hour of his show.

"For $9 you get to fly to Toledo and South Bend...ooooh," was Leno's quip.

The airline is offering two non-stop flights a week from South Bend Regional Airport to Newark, New Jersey.
