Charges filed in shooting death of Clay student

SOUTH BEND – Charges were filed Tuesday in the shooting death of 16-year-old Eddie Ward Jr., a Clay High School student.

Rashad D. Taylor, 17, of South Bend, has been charged with one count of murder, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities say Ward was shot early Sunday outside the Phillips 66 gas station at 1623 Lincoln Way W. in South Bend.

Rashad remains at the St. Joseph County Jail without bond pending trial.
