One person was taken to the hospital following a semi-truck accident along U.S. 31 near Argos early Wednesday.

Marshall County authorities continued to investigate the 1:20 a.m. crash that left the truck, loaded with live hogs, in a ditch on the northbound lanes near 17th Road.

Police weren’t sure yet what caused the accident. There were initial reports that the driver was unconscious at the scene, and 911 dispatch said it was possible a medical condition may have contributed to the crash.

There was no word on the condition of the driver.

No one else was involved in the accident, dispatch said. The road remained open during the investigation and cleanup of the accident.
