More arrests likely after overnight meth lab bust in Elkhart

By WSBT 24/7 News

One person is in custody and more arrests are anticipated after a meth lab bust in the 1000 block of East Indiana Avenue, according to Elkhart Police, who are continuing their investigation.

An anonymous tip at 9 p.m. Thursday sent police to the address where they found several “active vessels being used to manufacture meth” in a pickup truck next to a house.

One officer was nearly overcome from the chemical odor, but he did not require medical treatment, according to a police department report.

As of 6:30 a.m. Friday, Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Suppression Team is still at the scene.

Steven Loy, 28, was arrested on preliminary charges of false informing and parole violation.

  • Anyone with information about this or other meth labs is asked to call the Elkhart Police Department Street Crime Unit at (574) 295-7070, Ext. 427.
