One dead after LaPorte County collision

At least one person has died following a head-on collision in LaPorte County, authorities say.

The accident happened about 10:45 p.m. CDT in the 5300 block of North 600 West, the Sheriff’s Department said.

That’s south of U.S. 20, police said, not far from U.S. 35.

There was no word on the condition of other people involved in the crash. Few other details were available early Monday.

An accident reconstruction team remained on the scene and the crash remains under investigation.

Initial reports indicated there was heavy damage to at least one vehicle and someone trapped inside.
