SOUTH BEND — St. Joseph County commissioners were to decide today whether to reinstate suspended Community Corrections Director Susan Hancock.

But they’ll hold off until the county’s Community Corrections Advisory Board meets, likely Thursday.

Hancock was placed on administrative leave without pay a year ago to await trial on charges she and her husband knowingly received, and then sold, stolen musical instruments that belonged to Elkhart-based Conn-Selmer.

Susan Hancock was acquitted of the charges. Her husband, Michael, was convicted and faces sentencing next month.

Commissioners met last week in executive session to hear information on Susan Hancock.

By law, the Board of Commissioners must wait to decide Susan Hancock’s employment until the advisory board considers the matter, said Commissioner Robert Kovach, D-3rd.
