SOUTH BEND — A Tuesday morning robbery on the city’s northeast side has police looking for connections with a robbery and home invasion Monday in Lakeville.

Tuesday’s robbery happened about 6:15 a.m., when a man and his girlfriend left their home in the 1200 block of East Cedar Street to move a car. Instead, they were met by two men, one carrying a gun, who forced them back inside their home.

According to police reports, the two men took the woman’s purse and her computer. They also tried to take a television set, but dropped it as they ran from the home.

Police responding to the area searched for the men but couldn’t find them. Instead, they found a vehicle believed to have been stolen from a robbery and home invasion in Lakeville.

In that incident, a man was found lying in the hallway of an apartment building, his hands and feed tied with an alarm clock cord and his mouth gagged with a T-shirt. The robber in that case reportedly stole the man’s red Ford Focus.

Police found the car parked three blocks from Tuesday’s robbery scene, near the corner of Walsh and Bissell streets. Police said it’s not known if the stolen car is connected with Tuesday morning’s robbery.

Police do suspect, however, that the robbery is connected to a robbery Monday in the 1100 block of East Cedar Street, where two men, armed with a gun, entered a home and demanded money from a man, then stole his wallet, cell phone and television.
