Kosciusko man arrested on drug, gun offenses

A Kosciusko County man was in jail following a weekend drug and weapons arrest in Milford, Ind.

A tip from a former roommate sent police to investigate a marijuana growing operation, according to the county Sheriff’s Department.

The man, identified as 18-year-old Gerardo Sanchez Jr., allowed police to search the residence in the 200 block of East Smith Street.

They found pipes, scales and heating-growing equipment inside the home, as well as unspecified related items in a bedroom closet.

They also discovered a .22-caliber rifle under the bed, police said in a news release.

After an investigation, they discovered the gun was stolen from a home in Syracuse in February.

Bond was set at $2,000 for Sanchez, who was being held in the Kosciusko County Jail.
