Here is a list of fireworks displays, parades and other events tied to celebrations of Independence Day.




INDIANA

Akron

Akron Fourth of July Celebration, car show, games, activities for children and more; begins 5 p.m. July 3 and continues through July 4 (parade: 11 a.m. and fireworks at dusk July 4); downtown Akron; (574) 893-4123 or (574) 505-9881.

Bremen

Bremen’s Firemen’s Festival, Tuesday through July 4 (parade 6:30 p.m. Tuesday; fireworks 10:30 p.m. July 4), Sunnyside Park; (574) 546-3660.

Goshen

FreedomFest, there will be no event this year; freedomfestgoshen.com.

Vintage Moped rally and fireworks - 30-40 riders travel from Motion Left Mopeds in Elkhart to Krider’s Worlds Fair Gardens in Middlebury and end up back in Goshen at Roger’s Park for a cookout and fireworks. Join the fun and learn more about the Elkhart-based club, Motion Left. The rally is geared toward actual mopeds, which have bicycle-style pedals and were made mostly between 1970-1985.

Black Squirrel Golf Club - July 5. Fireworks start at 10.

Lakeville

Lakeville Summer Parade begins with a pancake breakfast 7-11 a.m. June 27; parade begins at 9 a.m. at Mangus Drive; fireworks: at dusk July 4 at Newton Park; (574) 784-3272 or newtonpark.org.

LaPorte

LaPorte Jaycees Fourth of July, parade begins 10 a.m. CDT July 4 in downtown LaPorte; fireworks: gates open at 6 p.m. (food and entertainment); LaPorte County Fairgrounds; (219) 324-5828 or laportejaycees.org; admission to the grounds is $5 per vehicle or $1 per person.

Michigan City

Patriotic Program, featuring color guards, veterans and more; Millennium Plaza, Washington Park; 8 a.m. CDT July 4; (219) 874-3630 or michigancityfestivalsinc.com.

Mishawaka

June 26 at Merrifield Park, 1000 E. Mishawaka Ave. Fireworks start at dusk.

North Liberty

Fourth of July activities, featuring a parade at 2 p.m. July 4; fireworks at dusk July 4 at North Liberty Elementary School; (574) 656-4447 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

South Bend

St. Joseph County Fair takes place July 3-11 at St. Joseph County Fairgrounds, Ironwood and Kern roads. Fireworks will be set off at dusk July 5. Regular admission will apply. For information, visit 4hfair.com or call (574) 291-4870.

Meet Me on the Island: The Lawn Party, featuring Duke Tumatoe and the Power Trio performing, works by Matt Warren, Ali Oesch, Len Cockman and Martha Branson-Banks and fireworks at dusk; 5-10 p.m. July 3; South Bend Museum of Art, 120 S. MICHIGAN

Baroda

Fireworks at dusk July 3 behind American Legion Post 345, at the south end of First Street. Live music at the Legion Pavilion.
