One person airlifted after Elkhart County mo-ped mishap

New Paris Elementary School’s County Road 46 campus served as a landing site early Friday morning for a Samaritan medical helicopter.

The medical airlift to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne was requested for the person driving a mo-ped. That driver was injured when their mo-ped and another vehicle collided at 4:51 a.m. in the 71000 block of County Road 23.

Several passers-by were among people who called 911 to report the accident, according to an Elkhart County emergency services dispatch supervisor.

No information was immediately available about the other driver.
