Jeremy Garber, 36, is listed in fair condition at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, a nursing supervisor told SBT24/7News early Saturday morning.

Garber was airlifted to the hospital at 4:51 a.m. Friday after his mini-bike collided with a car on County Road 23, south of County Road 50, in Elkhart County.

Police said Garber was driving his homemade mini-bike north on County Road 23 and collided with the car when he tried to make a turn. Garber had multiple injuries. The other driver, Jack Salazar, 52, of Milford, was not injured, police said.

New Paris Elementary School’s County Road 46 campus served as the landing site for Samaritan medical helicopter.

Several passers-by were among people who called 911 to report the accident, according to an Elkhart County emergency services dispatch supervisor.
